Faktor-Faktor yang Memengaruhi Pemilihan Penolong Persalinan di Wilayah Kerja Unit Pelayanan Teknis Puskesmas Saitnihuta Kecamatan Dolok Sanggul Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan

Abstract

Ihe choice of delivery assistant is the determination of choosing delivery assistant for mothers who gave birth. The process of childbirth can be assisted by health pLrsonels namely doctors, midwives and non-health personel such as traditionol b irth attendant. The objecttve of the research was to analyze the factors (age, pority, education, lotiwledge,

-culture, perception, suggestion from health personels and fomtlies, and exposire to informotion) influenced the choice of delivery ossistant- The -research used a quantitative survey with cross sectional design. The population were 264 childbirth mothers in 2013 in the working area of (IPT (Technical Service Unit)

of Saitnihuto Heolth Center (Puskesmas), and all of them were used as the sample- The data were collected by conducting intervietvs with questionnaires and onalyzed

by using univariate analysis, btvariote onolysis with Chi Square test and multivariate onolysis with poisson regression at the significonce level of 5%' The results of the reseorch showed thot there were 79 respondents (29-9%') who chose health personels as delivery assistant, and 185 respondents (70-l%o) chose the tradtttonal bi.rth attendants as deltvery assistant. There was the influence of education ond futowledge on the choice in delivery ossistont. The variable which had the most dominant influenced wos the varioble of educotion with the cofficient value of B: 1.170. It is recommended that UPT Saitnihutq Heolth Center collaborate with the local government by providing counselling in order to improve community's lmowlidge about the choice of delivery assistant so that they can use health service facility, particularly in choosing health personels as delivery assistants
