dc.description.abstractVoluntary HIV Counseling and Testing ffCD is a secret dialog between clients and provider in order to increase the capaciet in fucing stress and malcing decision related to HIV. Counseling and testing HIV can be in/luenced by some factors such as antenatal care, knowledge, attitude, self-eficacy, age, educatton, rccupation, parity, distance to health facility, support from families/husbands, support from midwives, and information meCia. The study objective was to analyze Wrticipation of pregnant mothers for testing and caunseling HIV. This studlt is a survey research with cross sectional The population is all pregnant mothers at Kabanjahe health center'Karo District with a sample of l8j pregnant mothers- Data were analyzed by Chi Square and Multiple Logistic Regression. The result showed that mostly pregnant mothers participated in HIV testing and counseling (59.0%o). There is the infiuence of antenatal care (p : 0.001), knowledge (p : 0.001), attitude (p : 0.001), age (p : 0.001), the distance to the place of service (p : 0.008), farnily support (p : 0.00j), midwife support (p : 0.001) ond media inforrnation (p : 0.A0q on the participation af pregnant mothers for HIV testing and counseling The variables that most influenced on the participation of pregnant mothers for HIV counselingand testing is the atritude with the value of the B coeffcient : l,9.88.1. It is necessary to moke an approach to pregnant mothers by prwiding information directly to pregnant mathers individually or by groups to provide cnvareness of the imprtance of participating in HIV testing and cotmseling as well as trainingfor midwives, cadresand the wives of village heads to help deliver the right infurmation about the introdaction of HIY disease and improve HIV testing and counseling services outside the health center such as VCT mobile so that it can be utilized by women who can not go to the health centeren_US
