Pregnant care is a health care given to a mother when she is pregnant, according to the guidance of antenatal care service. Pregnancy is a natural process. The changes which occur in a woman in her normal pregnancy are physiological, not pathological. Antenatal examination is pregnancy examination to examine the condition of the mother and her fetus regularly, followed by the correction of any deviation during the pregnancy. The coverage of K4 visits of pregnant mothers in North Sumatera is fluctuating: from 2004 until 2005 it decreased from 68.32% to 67. 76%, in 2006 it increased to 80.48%; it decreased again to 77.95% in 2007, and in 2008 it increased to 79.53%. Compared to 90% of the national target, North Sumatera has not yet achieved the target. The type of the research was an explanatory survey which explained the causal correlation among the analyzed variables. The research was conducted at Pulo Brayan Puskesmas. The population was 436 pregnant mothers with 120 samples, taken by using random sampling technique. The data were analyzed by using univatriate, bivatriate, and chi square tests, and mulltivatriate analysis with multiple logistic regression tests. The result of the research showed that weight (p=0. 000<0. 005), height of fundus uterus (p=0.000<0.005), blood pressure (p=0.000<0.005), toxoid tetanus (p=0.000<0.005), Fe tablet (p=0.000<0.005), PMS test (p=0.000<0.005) and interviews (p=.000<0.005) were correlated with the quality of antenatal care and had influence on the coverage of pregnant mothers. Weight is the most significant influence on the coverage of pregnant mothers with value of8=5.384. It is recommended that Pulo Brayan Puskesmasa, Medan, should increase the quality of antenatal care, especially the village midwives at each village should be more active, intensive, and continual in giving counseling about pregnancy examination so that pregnant mothers are interested in examining their pregnancy to Pulo Brayan Puskesmasen_US
