dc.description.abstractThe prevalence of candidiasis vagina/is in women, based on the result of the research by the National Movement Agency for Handling HIV/AIDS in 2010, conducted in ten cities in Indonesia, indicated its success: Jayapura (33%), Medan (27%), Palembang (23%), Bitung (21%), Surabaya (18%), Bandung (12%), West Jakarta (9%), and Tanjung Pinang in Riau Province (12%). The objective of the research was to analyze the risk factors of the incident of candidiasis vaginalis in contraceptive devices, antibiotic, sexual hygiene behavior, sexual intercourse diabetes mellitus, and pregnancy. The type of the research was an observational analytic survey with case control design. The research was conducted at Polyclinic VIII of RSUD dr. Pirngadi, Medan. The population was divided into two groups: case population and control population with 34 patient respectively, and all of them were used as the samples. The data were analyzed by using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi square test, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression tests. The result of the research showed 99. 64% of the possibility for mothers to be affected by candidiasis vaginalis when they used IUD/pills as contraceptive device, used antibiotic, had bad sexual hygiene behavior, or conducted sexual intercourse > three times a week. On the other hand, mothers who used contraceptive devices other than IUD/pills, used antibiotic not routinely, had good sexual hygiene behavior, and conducted sexual intercourse :S three times a week had 22.11% of the possibility of being affected by candidiasis vagina/is. It is recommended that the management of RSUD DR. Pirngadi Af edan, instruct their health workers to provide counseling to patients, aided by students who did their practice in each ward, and to distribute brochures and leafletsen_US
