Pola Komunikasi Dokter-Pasien di Ruang Rawat Inap Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Deli Serdang
Abstract
In principle, relationship between doctors and patients cannot exist without communication. This includes in medical service in which communication is a reciprocal and sustainable process between the two of them. The objective of the research was to analyze the pattern of doctor-patients communication in the Inpatient Wards of RSUD Deli Serdang.
The research used qualitative interpretative method. The data were gathered
By conducting in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary study and analyzed
through data collecting, data reduction, and data display and verification, and
conclusion drawing.
The result of the research showed that doctor-patient communication pattern
in the Inpatient Wards of RSUD Deli Serdang was good. The expectation of doctor
in doctor-patient communication pattern was that it would give the Benefit for the two
paties (doctors and patients), patients” recovery and doctors’ good performance
The expectation of patients was that doctors could stay longer in examining patients,
Be no hurry, give repeated explanation, and be familiar with child patients. The effective doctor-patient communication pattern in the Inpatient Wards of RSUD Deli Serdang was that doctors were able to give good message by using simple language so that patients would be motivated to do what had been asked by doctors. Patients should be encouraged to have the motivation to recover trom their illness and
harmonious relationship between doctors and patients could be realized.
Jt is recommended that specialists at the hospital take their time in examining
patients, communicate with them in a friendly manner, and give them opportunity to
ask. Patients should be transparent and dare to ask about their illness and comply
with what the doctors order them to do in order to expedite their recovery.
