In-patient installation is one of the important parts of health service essentially provided by a hospital because it is the place where observation, diagnose, therapy, medical rehabilitation and the other medical services are carried out. The quality of medical service in the in-patient installation must be able to give satisfaction to the patient being treated in order to obtain a successful therapy which is the main objective of a hospital service. The improvement of health service quality is the commitment and responsibility of the management and all staff working for the hospital. The purpose of this explanatory survey study is to explain the influence of health service quality on the satisfaction of the in-patient patients. The population of this study was all of the in-patient patients accepted through the policlinic and Emergency unit in June 2007. The result of this study shows that the satisfaction of the patient can be categorized as 77,2% good and 22,8% poor. The result of analysis indicates that the quality of medical services/doctor's, the quality of service given by the paramedics and the quality of medical supporting services have a significant influence on the patient on the patients' level of satisfaction while the quality of administration services does not have a significant influence on the patients' level of satisfaction. To improve the level of patients' satisfaction, it is suggested that the management of Teluk Kuantan General Hospital pay an intensive and continuous attention to the qualities of medical services/doctors, the services given by the paramedics, the medical supporting services and the administration service.
