One attempt to improve the latitude and shear capacity is to plan a structure with
maximum reinforcement stirrups, it is often overlooked by some people that
design errors resulting structure can not withstand shear .
In this case , there are several ways you can do to increase the shear capacity of a
particular structure in the case study was conducted on beams with Carbon FRP
reinforcement with U Wraping method.
Evident in the analysis carried out in both the theoretical and testing in the
laboratory, Carbon FRP are very effective in improving the style of latitude and
shear capacity, in addition to the increase in flexural capacity also occur with this
method. Referring to the regulation ACI 440, the calculation of shear capacity in
the study were able to increase by 86.95 %. This proves U Wraping method by
using Carbon FRP is effectively used as external reinforcement and this method
can be used on the damaged structures such as cracks on the beam.
On the addition of external reinforcement beams, columns and other structures
such as plates by using Carbon FRP is also more efficient and practical when
compared with conventional usual way due to the use of Carbon FRP materials
are thin, lightweight and does not take place in the execution and easy in
implementation
