Traffic is one of the facilities of public communication which plays an important role in speeding up development because it can provide the access for people to doing their activities in increasing their economic condition. It is very difficult for us to do our business and to use roads wihout any traffic. Medan as one of the big cities in Indonesia has many serious problems in traffic which need significant handling, especially by the traffic police to control motor vehicle riders who commit traffic offenses. The title of this scientific writing was "The Behavior of Motor Vehicle Riders in Traffic in Medan." The objective of the research is to find out the subjective reasons of vehicle riders in traffic who commit traffic offenses such as violating traffic signs, traffic light, vehicle documents, driver's licenses, etc. The research employs descriptive qualitative method. The data are collected through library research, interview, documentation, and observation. The result of the research shows that the reason why the riders commit traffic offense is situational (emergency situation or in a hurry) and individual, a drive from their own self such as a hobby to make modification which is not in line with the standard. It is recommended that riders adhere to traffic regulations, not because of the presence of police officers but because of their own awareness.en_US
