Hubungan Antara Homeostatic Model Assessment For Insulin Resistance dan Rasio Lingkar Pinggang-Panggul dengan Fungsi Kognitif pada Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2

Abstract

Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disease characterized by relative insulin deficiency and insulin resistance. One of the chronic complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus is decrease in cognitive function, so early detection is very importance. The main mechanism underlying this relationship is insulin resistance. HOMA IR is a simple method to assess insulin resistance. Obesity either visceral or central is very common in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The waist to hip ratio is one method for assessing central obesity. Objective This study was conducted to determine the relationship between homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance and waist to hip ratio (WHR) with cognitive function in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method This study used a correlative analytic with a cross sectional design. The study sample consisted of 56 subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus. HOMA IR was assessed based on blood laboratory results. Waist to hip ratio was measured with a tape measure and cognitive function was assessed using the MoCA Ina score. Result There was no significant relationship between HOMA-IR and cognitive function in type 2 DM patients with a value of p=0.276 (p>0.05) and a value of r=0.148. There was no significant relationship between waist-hip ratio and cognitive function with a value of p = 0.499 (p> 0.05) with a value of r = 0.092 Conclusion There is no relationship between HOMA IR and waist hip ratio with cognitive function in type 2 DM
