dc.description.abstract | This study aims to describe the meaning of people's names in the Pesisir Malay community in Datuk Bandar Timur District in anthropolinguistic studies and to describe the cultural values contained in these names in terms of an anthropolinguistic approach. The location of this research was conducted in the Datuk Bandar Timur District, Tanjung Balai City. This study uses a qualitative method. The theories used in this research are anthropolinguistic, cultural values, and onomastic. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the names of people from the Pesisir Malay community contain figurative, situational, and memorable meanings. The cultural values contained in the names of the Pesisir Malay people in Datuk Bandar Timur District are welfare values, hard work values, educational values, health values, gender management values, politeness values, honesty values, and religious values. | en_US |
