dc.description.abstractThe use of fine aggregate material of the river sand type as a material for making concrete is very common. The use of artificial sand (crushed sand) is still uncommon. PLTA Asahan III generates a significant amount of material waste as a result of blasting (tunnel muck). This waste must be disposed of using a landfill and a fee. As a result, the material waste is tested in order to be used as a concrete mixture. This study compared the initial stress in high-strength concrete when river materials and tunnel muck materials are used. The specimens were made from normal concrete (NC) and tunnel muck concrete (TMC). Concrete is printed in cylindrical molds 1.5 cm by 30 cm in size and then aged for 3, 7, 14, and 28 days. A compression machine is used to perform the compressive strength test. At 3 days of concrete age, the percentage difference in maximum compressive strength testing between NC and TMC was 27.21%. The split tensile strength test is carried out using a compression machine. At 7 days of concrete age, the percentage difference in the maximum split tensile strength test between NC and TMC is 13.64%. Microstructural analysis using SEM-EDX reveals that NC flakes have more voids than TMC. The more voids there are in the concrete mixture, the weaker it will be. Because TMC contains fewer voids than NC, its average compressive strength is greater than NC.en_US
