Nosochomial infection is one of the occupational risks faced by the health workers especially nurse which is the biggest health worker in every health centers who directly face and most frequently make contact with the patients' body when taking invasive or other actions. Gleni International Hospital (GIH) Medan took care of many HIV infected patients that it is important for the nurses to obey the UP in order to protect them from the spread of nosochomial infectious deseases resulted from their work and to improve their occupational health and safety. At GIH Medan it was still found that nurse did not wear gloves in invasive action. The purpose of this survey observational analyze study was to analyze the influence of pattern of leadership on nurse's obedience in applying the UP in Gleni International Hospital Medan. The population of this study were 260 nurses and 15 were selected to be the samples. The data obtained were analyzed though by using multiple logistic regression test. The result of this showed that there were significant influence of communication (p=0,007) and competence (p=0,32) on the nurse's obedience in applying the UP in GIH.The most contributive variable was the communication with exp value of B = 34,450. The management of hospital is suggested to improve the competence of head of nursing with leadership training and workshop. Communication between leader and staff can be made better through the improvement of direct communication between the management and the nurses with monthly meeting and intersection friendly. The obedience of the nurses can be improved though control intensification, making work rules and providing annual UP trainings.
