Ende Sangap di Jahowa Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP): Kajian Sejarah, Fungsi, dan Analisis Struktur Musik

Abstract

In this research, the writer analisys about “Ende Sangap di Jahowa" that is used in religious ceremony of HKBP (Huria Batak Kristen Protestan) Church. Ende or songs are very important in the religious ceremony of HKBP. The writer trais to find the answers for this questions: who introduced Ende Sangap di Jahowa to HKBP, What are the roles of Ende Sangap di Jahowa in the religious of ceremony of HKBP, what are the functions of Ende Sangap di Jahowa for HKBP. To get the answer the writer uses qualitative research method by using interdicipline theories. The result of hitorical analysis shows that Ende sangap di Jahowa exist because The needs of songs variation to ajust the development of new era before, there are already “Buku Ende" and "Haluaon na Gok". The writer found that Ende Sangap di Jahowa reflects that eventhough the conggregation of HKBP for hundreds of years were thought the songs that are not from their own culture, but the conggregations can aply and even can create new songs to ajust to the needs of their culture. The songs in Ende Sangap di Jahowa have important roles in religious ceremony because it can be used as an expression of emotion, as an esthetic comprehension, as an entertainment, as a tool of communication, as symbols, as physical reaction, as a tool to preserve the culture and as a tool to integrate sociaty, it also relates to social norms.
