    Abstract
Noise in industrial area has long been a concern and a problem in the workplace. Noise is an occupational health problem that always arises in large industries, especially in the work environment. Noise causes hearing loss in every country in the world and is regarded as one of industrial pollutants. Hearing loss in the workplace includes traumatic acoustic injuries and hearing loss caused by Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) which can be defined as partial or complete hearing loss in one or both ears as a result of work. Excessive noise exposure is the leading cause of permanent hearing loss worldwide. Therefore, we are interested in conducting this research due to the lack of research data or information about the relationship between duration of working and hearing loss in workers at furniture factories, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency. Objective: To determine the relationship between duration of work and hearing loss n workers at furniture factories, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency. Method: This research is analytic research with a cross-sectional research design. We collected data from 35 workers. The independent variable is length of work and the dependent variable is hearing loss. We performed 0.05 at the 95% level of confidence, to see the relationship between the independent variable (noise) and the dependent variable (hearing loss). P value <0.05 considered significant Result: In this study, of the 35 workers with duration and normal hearing on the left ear were 3 people (100%), while working duration > 10 years with normal hearing on the left ear were 2 people (6, 25%), with mild 28 people (87.5%) and moderate hearing loss of left ear were hearing were 3 people (100%), while a working period of > 10 years with a normal hearing in right ear were 2 people (6.25%) and with mild hearing loss were 30 people (93.8%) with p <0.002. Conclusion: This study shows that there is a significant relationship between duration of work and hearing loss among workers in furniture factories.
