dc.description.abstract | Up to now, maternal mortality rate (AKI) is still high in Indonesia and this is a healt problem which has not been able to entirely evercome. It is predicted that, of each deceased mother, there were 100 women, when delivering thier, babies, pregnancy. Hence, the government of Indonesia has targeted the decrease of maternal mortality rate for three-fourth or 125 per 100.000 in 2010. To achieve the ambition of "Deli Serdang Sehat 2010" (Healthy Deli Serdang 2010), the District Gobernment of Deli Serdang is doing its best to improve the present health level ot the optimal level, and one of the attempts done is to increase the number of rural midwifes, bu, in fact, the utilization of rural midwifes is not yet maximum. The purpose of this study is to find out the derminant of utilizing midwife by the mother delivering a baby in Galang Sub-district, Deli Serdang District, in 2009. the population of this study were all of the 1083 mothers delivering thier mothers were selected to be the samples for this study through simple random surposive sampling technique. The result of this study shows that the category of not utilizing rural midwife was still high (105 mothers or 53%). There were 2 (two) variables of internal factors such a time taken to the Puskesmas, knowledge, and the rust the mother delivering a baby has on the utilization of rural midwife that had a relationsip with the utilization or rural midwifes with the value of significance < 0.05. The external variables that had a relatioship with the utilization of rural midwifes were family support, information and facilities concerning the utilization or rural midwifes. The rural midwifes are suggested to be more interactive with community that the community especially the mothers delivering their babies can more understand the function and the duty of the rural midwifes in meeting the need for a community health service in the village. The rural midwifes should show that they we professional in doing thier job as rural midviwes through thier real performance in the village that the rural community will hace more trust on thier ability and creability as rural midwifes. | en_US |
