dc.description.abstractRole of tocologist services primarily directed to maternal and child health (MCH) is still perceived to be major health problems in rural areas, especially those related to pregnancy and childbirth issues. Comunity Health Center at Kutalimbaru Deli Serdang in December 2008 found that the scope of delivery by a tocologist at Comunity Health Center working area Kutalimbaru year 2007 by 70%. This is the coverage rate is lower than the national target of 90%. Other problems found in the area of child birth helper Kutalimbaru Health Center is still a few villages (such as the Village Namorube Julu) that child birth helper conducted by midwife as many as 3 people. This study used a qualitative approach using in-depth interview method Informants in this study is the Karo ethnic communities in the working area Kutalimbaru Health Center in 2009 as many as 8 people and pregnant mothers and childbirth, community leaders and village tocologist, housewives, selection based on the adequacy and suitability. Data analysis by using computerized programs to process data in the form of words (text) so obtained display in the form of a matrix (column) and then compared with theory, Iiterature and assumptions. Based on the results of research on the behavior of a village tocologist in the utilization of labor as a helper can be concluded that : the informant pregnant mothers and childbirth the mother totaling 8 people with the lowest age of 22 years and age 30 years highest, education level of education1I SD, 1 SMP , and 1 Pharmacy, and there are 5 people in high school, knowledge of the village tocologist placed at the village almost all known to what the tocologist had placed both at the villages, why at the villages and tasks assigned from the tocologist. Trust in the tocologist during childbirth helper process all informants said that usually the most conducted part are mother in-laws (mother of the husband), values and norms related beliefs in terms of support or inhibit the use of village midwives to help birth, the informants said there were no more rules which prohibits a person utilized a tocologist services based on values and norms that apply to Karo ethnic.en_US
