    Abstract
    BACKGROUND : Ocular motor palsies are well- recognised ocular motility abnormality. lt consist of oculomotor, trochlear, and abducens palsy. Cause of it include vascular disease, neoplasm, and head trauma. OBJECTIVE : To determine prevalence of oculomotor, trochlear, and abducens palsies over one year period. METHODS : The study was design as retrospective - deskriptive with chart review. lt perform by medical record of Neuro Ophthalmology Department at Adam Malik Hospital Medan during 2012, with ocular motility disorder and binocular diplopia. RESULT : There were 82 patients with ocular motor palsies, which mean 670/o men and 33% women. Oculomotor palsies was present in 27 patients (32.9%), abducens palsies in 51 patients (62.2%), and multiple cranial nerve palsies in 4 patients (4.9%). None of trochlear palsy wlthout accompanying by oculomotor and abducens palsy. The main cause is vascular disease (62.2%), followed by neoplasm (25.6%) dan head trauma (12.2o/o). CONCLUSION : This study provide ocular motor palsy with a notably higher prevalence of abducens palsies. Patients with vascular as underlying cause of ocular palsy may undergo a focused medical evaluation followed by close observation, whereas a full neurologic evaluation, including prompt neuroimaging
