Tlrcre were many eviderrces to suggest that treatment of HIY/AIDS with
triple drugs produced an irrcrease in cD4. so, the aim of this study was to
investigate wlrcther zidovudin, lamivudin and efavtrenz teatment will produce an
increase in CD4 and if it may achieve its narmal range, as well as to htow their
ffict on the fewitin level. The Quasi Experimentat Study (Pre Test and Post Test
Design) on 22 HIV/AIDS patients (10 male and t2 female) who have never
received ARV, from voluntary Counseling and Testing, was conducted in Adam
Malik General Hospital,Medanfrom September 20IS to March 2016. cD4 cells
and feritin count was conducted before receiving zidovudin, lamivudin and
efavirenz, then 3 months afierwards. Out of 22 patients who participated in this
study, 21 patients (95,5%o) slwwed an itrcrease in CM count, I patient (4,5%o)
demonstrated a decrease in CD4 coant. Significant changes in CD4 levels before
ond arter the qdministration of zidovudia lqmiwtdin and efwircnz for 3 months
wllere p value < A,05. There is no statistical significant changes in the ferittn
count before and after the administration of zidovudin, lamivudin, efovirenz for 3
months, p value > 0,05. This study slnwed that teatment with zidovudin,
lamivudin and efavirenz in patient with HIV/AIDS produced in increase of CD4,
but it did not achieve its rnrmal range. In addition, the increase of CD4 is not
followed by reduction in ferritin
