| dc.description.abstract | PT X uses ammonia medium concentrated latex as the raw material for rubber thread processing. In the rubber thread processing room , there are several locations where the air environment has the level of exceeding 17.0 mg/m3 air. ( predetermined level value). This study aims at analyzing the efforts of preventing the workers working in the rubber thread processing room of PT X from lung function disorder and providing some insights of preventing the lung function of the workers of PT X from the exposure of ammonia. This study employs the analytical descriptive research design with cross sectional approach. The samples for this study are 30 workers selected from the total population under the criteria of their readiness to have their lung examined and without any history of lung disease before they were accepted to work at PT X. Data were collected by means of impinger, spyrometry, interview, direct observation and company's documentation. The data were analyzed through univariate and bivariate data analysis using chi-square test with level of significance 95%. The result of bivariate analysis reveals that the efforts of preventation are in the forms of technical approach, training, the use of PPE , and medical check-up , only the use of PPE which statistically has a significant relationship to lung function disorder with p=0.0 18(p<0.05). To prevent the incidence of lung function disorder , it is suggested to manager , who holds the authority in the worksite , make a policy that the provision , selection , and training on the use of respiratory protector should be adjusted to the needs in work site. It is also suggested to the supervisor to keep controlling whether or not the workers wear their PPE and the worker should willingly use their breathing protector in their work site. | en_US |
