Manpower need planning at Putri Hijau Kesdam I bukit Barisan Level II Hospital Medan has not applied a certain yet that it is unknown whether or not Human Resources available at the hospital has or has not met the need yet. One of the manpower need planning unit in the Health Service unit such as the one at the hospital is Workload Indicator of Staffing Neded (WISN) is the calculating of labor requirements based on wrkload The purpuse of this study was to determine the need for manpower (staff) in the pharmaceutical installation of Putri Hijau Kesdam I Bukit Barisan Level II Hospital Medan. The dat used in this qualitative study were quantitative and qualitative data. The informants for this study were the pharmacists as the head of installation, the head of sub-installation, assistant pharmacists at warehouse, assistant pharmacists at pharmacy and administration staff. the available working time for the pharmacist and the head of sub-pharmaceutical installation was 114.240 hours/year, assistant pharmacist was 141.270 hours/year and administration staff was 117.300 hours/year. Standard workload and standard leeway varied according to the number and kinds of activities performed by respective Human Resource category. The current need for manpower has not yet met the need according to WISN method. It is seen from section in pharmaceutical installation still lack of manpower. From the result of this study suggested to the hospital management, to setting of staffing need for each unit by main job and workload, to a decentralized system for pharmacy services and apply the standar of pharmaceutical service in hospital according Keputusan Menkes RI No. 1197/MENKES/SK/X/2004.
