    Tradisi Marsiurupan dalam Upacara Adat Pernikahan Masyarakat Angkola

    Abstract
    One of the traditional ceremonies and rituals of marriage Padangsimpuan is marsiurupan. The objective of this study is to figure out and to analyze the performance of marsiurupan in Padangsidimpuan city, to analyze text, co-text, and context, to find out the meaning and function of local wisdom, and to create a model of revitalization. Emic method was used in this research. Participant observations and interviews were applied as the technique of collecting the data as well as qualitative data analysis. The research findings were; the performance of marsiurupan was classified into some activities, they are marpege-pege, pajonjong los, makkuras, mamasu dahanon, makkubak sibodak, mardandang, manggule and manukkus indahan. The result of textual analysis showed that meaning and function of marsiurupan existed in verse and aphorism. The meaning of marsiurupan for Angkola people was working together voluntarily without asking reply and the functions were (1) as a tool for firming up the brotherhood and kinship of Angkola people, (2) as a tool for alleviating the people’s problem, (3) as a projection system of Angkola’s kinship, (4) as a means of generation education, (5) as a pride in the community. The values and norms of marsiurupan was (1) an ethics value, and the norms were; (1) the norms of religion, (2) norms of decency, (3) norms of habits, (4) politeness, (5) norms of customary legal. The local wisdom of marsiurupan were: (1) mutual cooperation, (2) peace and conflict resolution, (3) deliberation, (4) politeness, (5) honesty, (6) commitments, (7) harmony, (8) gender management, (9) solidarity. The revitalization of marsiurupan was the management in Padangsidimpuan city by involving the government, school and traditional actors. All of the elements have mutual cooperation to make (1) a socialization in school, (2) social media, (3) seminar.
