    Abstract
Background: SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnant women is a new infection, and little is known whether infection with this virus can spread transplacental and the possible effects on children and their outcomes in infants born to mothers with SARS-CoV-2 infection are still unknown for certain, so we are interested in analyzing how the outcomes of infants from mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2 and whether there is a possibility of vertical transmission from mother to baby Objective: to see the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the placenta and the possible outcomes that occur in newborns from mothers infected with SARSCoV- 2 (confirmed by RT-PCR) Methods: This hospital-based cross-sectional study was done on 28 mother-infant couples from February 2021 to December 2021 utilizing a systematic sampling strategy. Kami mengambil plasenta dan melakukan pemeriksaan histopatologi dan pewarnaa IHC to see the expression of the SARS-CoV-2 N protein in the placenta using the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) nucleocapsid antibody [HL344] (GeneTex) antigen. The SPSS program was used to examine the data (version 26). To find related variables with 95% confidence intervals, chi-square analysis, Fisher exact test, Mann-Whitney, and Independent T test were calculated. Result: We conducted a study on 28 pregnant women who were confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 based on RT-PCR examination. We found the N protein expression of SARS-CoV-2 in two placentas, but none of the infants was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2. In our analysis, we did not find an increase in morbidity and mortality of infants born to mothers infected with SARSCoV- 2, but we did find an increase in maternal morbidity and mortality. Conclusion: SARS-Cov-2 can infect the placenta, so that vertical transmission from mo ther to baby is still possible
