dc.description.abstract | The result of preliminary survey on 20 medical records done at Pariaman General Hospital, Sumatera Barat Province showed that 70% of the documentation did not meet the standard of nursing documentation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the characteristics and the knowledge of the nurses about the nursing regulations on the quality of the nursing documentation. The populations of this research explanatory survey study were all of the 67 nurses on duty in the in-patient wards (departments of pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology) Pariaman General Hospital, Sumatera Barat Province and all of them were selected to be the samples of this study. The data were obtained through interviews and observation and analyzed by using multiple logistic regression tests. The result of this study showed that there was significant influence between education and the knowledge of the nurses on the quality of the nursing documentation in Pariaman General Hospital, Sumatera Barat Province. The Director of Hospital is suggested to socialize the nursing documentation and staff development especially for the newly assigned nurses. In addition, the director of hospital together with the hospital supervisor should coordinate and monitor the implementation of nursing activity. The nurses in this hospital should improve their knowledge about the nursing regulation in order to improve their nursing quality especially in planning and documentation through trainings, courses and seminar. | en_US |
