    Abstract
    Research on population density of ricefish (Oryzias javanicus) in Mangrove Sicanang Area Kelurahan Belawan Sicanang Kecamatan Medan Belawan was carried out on May-June 2022. The purpose of this study was to analyze the population density of ricefish and the relationship between population density of ricefish with physico-chemical factors of waters in Mangrove Sicanang Area. The research used purposive sampling method by determining three stations sampling based on activities around the station. Samples was taken using a fishing scoop net and repeated 20 times at each station. Data analysis includes density of population, frequency of attendance, growth pattern, Pearson correlation analysis. The physico-chemical parameters of the waters measured included temperature, light intensity, light penetration, water depth, speed water flow, salinity, pH, oxygen saturation, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biologycal Oxygen Demand (BOD5), nitrate (NO3), phosphate (PO4). The results of the study revealed that the highest density of population was at station 1 which is equal to 10,4 ind/m2. The growth pattern of ricefish was negative allometric with value of b is 2,0819 - 2,2052. The correlation value between population density and the physical and chemical factors showed very strong interaction to the speedwater flow, pH, DO, oxygen saturation, nitrate, temperature, light penetration and it had strong correlation to light intensity, salinity, phosphate.
