In gaining the victory in the contest legislative elections in 2009 and then in a
democracy based on proportional system of open communication strategy requires an
appropriate political, especially in the voters' electoral votes to capture a significant
number of seats in parliament to determine the city of Medan.
This study aims to obtain an overview of communication strategies in
influencing the Golkar political party preferences of voters on the Legislature
Beginners 9 April 2009 in Medan, and set the sample areas and the District of New
Medan Medan Struggle. By relying on primary data obtained from 80 respondents
who selected the accidental sampling.
The results obtained with survey techniques in a structured interview format
of data collection, _ interviews and documentation studies presented in the
configuration analysis of descriptive data illustrate: (1). Political communication is
carried out political parties and candidates for legislative parliament who
participated in Medan city elections in 2009 and then in various forms and channels,
as well as communication media can affect voters 'level of understanding, trust in
political parties and voters' knowledge of the principles of sovereignty represented by
legislators the city of Medan in 2009. (2). Use knowledge of voters in the election
system change in 2009, of a closed system proposal to be open-list proportional
system requires communication media and proper socialization. (3). Behavior of
voters in the 2009 election and then in the city of Medan in the choice set implies that
the political parties of the ruling political parties now may not bring significant
changes in their daily lives, which is reflected in the variety of choice preference,
among the party's program, the performance has a relationship person close to the
respondent and the candidate from a political party that the Legislature, (4). The role
of media and political communication between the role of the news and advertising
on TV, interpersonal relationships through the campaign, it has a significant role in
influencing the selection of respondents to the study of political parties and
candidates legeslatif the 2009 election in the city of Medan.
