Ekspresi Aromatase pada Jaringan Mioma Uteri di RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan

Abstract

Background: The uterine myoma is in a hyperestrogenic environment, thus aromatase enzyme expression can also be detect. Determination of aromatase expression in uterine myomas is essential for determining the pathogenesis of the tumor and the direction of appropriate management. Objective: to determine the difference of aromatase expression in uterine myoma tissue and myometrial tissue taken 2 cm and 4 cm from the uterine mioma border. Method: an analytic observational study with cross sectional design was conducted on 24 paraffin block uterine myoma, then immunohistochemical examination was done to assess the difference of aromatase expression in the tissue at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology PK USU/Department of Anatomical Pathology of Adam H. Haji General Hospital Medan. The results were analyzed statistically using Pearson correlation test. Results: There was a statistically significant correlation relationship between aromatase expression to myometrial tissue distance in uterine myoma, the further distance the myometrium from the uterine myoma expression of aromatase enzyme was lower (r = - 0.563; p = 0.000). Conclusion: aromatase expression in myometrium around myoma is lower than uterine myoma, but its expression is higher than normal myometrium, this is because uterine myoma can synthesize estrogen and have local aromatization on tissue with cell growth promoting effect.
