    Abstract
Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a highly economical fish that is widely cultivated. However, the high price of pellets is an obstacle in cultivation. Therefore we need a feeding strategy that is able to increase feed efficiency in aquaculture by doing periodic fasting. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of periodic feeding of fish with feeding rates on the growth and survival of catfish. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment used in this study was periodic starvation with 3 different levels, namely starved 1 day then fed 3 days (P1), starved 1 day then fed 5 days (P2), and starved 1 day then fed 7 days (P3) and treatment of the feeding rate was with levels of 2% (F1), 3% (F2), and 4% (F3). This research was conducted for 60 days to observe growth in length, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, survival and water quality. The results showed that periodic fasting of fish with feeding rates showed a highly significant (P≤0.01) effect on length growth and showed a significantly different effect (P≤0.05) on increasing the weight of fish with the best treatment at P3F3. In the Feed Conversion Ratio, the treatment showed a very significantly different effect (P≤0.01) with the best treatment P1F1 and the survival rate was classified as good with the highest survival rate namely 96.67%.
