Pengaruh Karakteristik dan Psikis Ibu PUS untuk Melakukan Test Inspeksi Visual Asam Asetat (IVA) sebagai Deteksi Dini Kanker Leher Rahim di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Bandar Khalipah Kec. Percut Sei Tuan Kab. Deli Serdang

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) (2007), it is estimated that more than 500,000 new cases of cervical cancer have been found in the world and 90% of all of the cases are found in the developing countries. Based on the data of International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) (in Depkes RI, 2008), the incidents of cervical cancer in Indonesia was 16 per 100, 000 women. The purpose of this observational analytical study with case-control design conducted at working area of Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Bandar Khalipah, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict was to analyze the influence of the characteristics and psychical condition of the mothers in reproductive age to do IVA test as early detection of cervical cancer. The population of this study was 33,858 persons and 102 of them comprising 51 in the case group and 51 in the control group were selected to be the samples for this study. The data obtained were analyzed through univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression tests. The result of multiple logistic regression tests showed that the variables influencing the mothers to do the IVA test were motivation and knowledge. The mothers in reproductive age with high motivation had a chance 15.9 times higher to do the IVA test than those with low motivation. The mothers in reproductive age with good knowledge had a chance 8.2 times higher to do the IVA test than those with less knowledge. The probability of mothers in reproductive age with not good knowledge and low motivation don't the IVA test was 94%. The Head of Puskesmas Bandar Khalifah is suggested to socialize the IVA test through the cadres of Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) to inform the mothers in reproductive age that they should visit Puskesmas to do the IVA test as the step for the early detection of cervical cancer.
