dc.description.abstractIndonesia is still having problems about electrical energy. The problem consists of the electricity network, rural area that far from the city, and the fossil energy resources are nearly run out. Hydroelectricity is an option in utilizing renewable energy sources. Vortex turbine is one type of micro hydro turbines that use whirlpool as turbine propulsion. Vortex turbine has a relatively low water levels between 0.7 m to 2 m. Turbine is either used on the flow of the river. For that carried out the analysis and numerical simulations with help of software Ansys FLUENT 14.0. Simulation of Computation fluid Dynamic (CFD) can analyze or predict fluid flow on vortex turbine basin. The process includes pre-processing, solving, and post-processing. The analysis performed on three dimensional flow (3D), transient, turbulent, and incompresible. The variable which is used for analysis is the orifice diameter variation. It consists of five sizes; 3 cm, 5.5 cm, 8.5 cm, 10.5 cm and 16 cm. From the results of simulation analysis gained maximum water power in the orifice with a diameter 16 cm, which is 24.24680432 watt with discharge 0.008253662 m3/s and head of 0.3 men_US
