    Analisis Teknik Penerjemahan dan Pergeseran (Shifts) pada Buku Ekonomi SMA Bilingual

    Abstract
    The purpose of this thesis entitled "The Analysis of Translation Technique and Shifts in the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School" looked at 1) what translation techniques are used in translating the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School, 2) what type of shifts are found in the process of translating the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School, and 3) what translation techniques and shifts which are dominant in translating the Bilingual Economics .Books for Senior High School. The purpose· of this descriptive-qualitative study was to describe the translation techniques used in translating the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School, to describe the type of shifts found in the process of translating the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School, and to find out the most dominant translation techniques and shifts in translating the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School. The data for this study were the clause, sentence, phrase or word found in the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School translated by Khoirul Anwar from English (SL) in Bahasa Indonesia (TL) and published by Yrama Widya in 2011. The translation technique analysis used in this study was based on the theories developed by Molina and Albir (in Silalahi, 2009). The theory of shift analysis used was based on the theory developed by Catford The result of analysis showed 195 data comprising 31 (15.90%) were related to Human Needs and the Accomplishment Media, 33 (16.92%) were related to Consumption and Production, 45 (25.08%) were related to market, 10 (5.12%) were related to Consumption, Savings and Investment, 31 (15. 90%) were related to money, and 45 (23. 08%) were related to Financial Institution. The frequency of translation technique applied in the Bilingual Economics Books for Senior High School was Adaptation 2 (1.02%), Borrowing 36 (18.46%), Calque 57 (29.23%), Compensation 3 (1.53%), Generalization 3 (1.53%), Literal 78 (40%), Modulation 3 (1.53%), Reduction 2 (1.02%), Addition 7 (3.58%), and Omission 4 (2.500/4). The 164 shifts from SL to TL found were Structural Shifts 70 (42.680/4), Class Shifts 4 (2.41%), Unit Shifts 61 (37.20%), and Intra System Shifts 29 (17.68%). In general, Literal Technique with the frequency of 78 (40%) is the most dominant technique and Structural Shift with the frequency of 70 (42.68%) is the most dominant shift used by the translator.
