    Abstract
Difficult economic conditions are the main factor in creating social problems in people's lives. This then encourages the emergence of informal employment sectors such as street clown buskers in the city of Medan. Costume owners (tauke) and street clown buskers have different socioeconomic status and needs. The relationship between the two gave birth to a cooperative relationship between the patron and the client. It is this form of patron-client relationship and pattern that is interesting to study. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Research informants were determined by purposive sampling procedure. This research was conducted by interviewing 9 informants. In this study there were adult clown buskers and child clown buskers. There is a difference in classification between adult and child clown buskers, where adult clown buskers are a permanent job while child clown buskers are only temporary jobs. This is evidenced by the different deposit schemes between the two. From the results of research conducted, the form of the relationship between the owner of the costume (tauke) and the buskers is a symmetrical relationship because the basis is mutual benefit without any coercion or pressure from other parties. Then from the collaboration process an emotional bond arises between the tauke and the busker, one of which is the family bond between the patron and the client in the form of tolerance from the patron to the client regarding deposits, protection from Satpol PP, and sympathy on holidays. Meanwhile, based on the form of cooperation, the patron-client relationship between the costume owner (tauke) and the clown busker forms a pattern of patron-client clusters.
