    Abstract
Pamatang Silimahuta District, Simalungun Regency is one of the areas that has agricultural potential which is quite extensive and the yield is very large, so that the main livelihood of the population is agriculture. The life of most people in Simalungun Regency is located in the plantation sector and previously the coffee plant was used as the basis of the economy by most of the community. Simalungun Regency is one of the best coffee producers in North Sumatra Province, special because it grows in volcanic highlands. However, along with the economic development of the coffee plant, which has been the trade mark for Simalungun Regency, its position has begun to shift to coffee plants originating from Aceh, namely Gayo coffee. This is because the quality of coffee from Gayo is currently of better quality. This caused the farming community to switch types of plants, especially to citrus plants and the price of coffee decreased so that the farming community began to feel worried about their coffee farming. in Saribujandi Village, there was an increase in farmers' income when the farmers decided to switch from planting coffee to citrus trees. From an economic perspective, the community was also said to be able because the income they had already met their daily needs and they were also able to send their children to school. their children go to school outside the city such as college and social aspects, it can be concluded based on the results of interviews with researchers, increasing the income of farming communities automatically raises the existing social status of farming communities in Saribujandi Village, Pama District Tang Silimahuta, Simalungun Regency
