Analisis Partisipasi Penduduk dalam Pengelolaan Sampah Metode 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) di Kelurahan Pinang Mancung Tebing Tinggi Tahun 2022

Abstract

Waste management is one of the main problem currently faced by developing country including Indonesia. Population growth and change in lifestyle have increased the amount, type, and characteristics of waste. The increase of waste volume requires management. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, and action of 3R in the participation of waste management using 3R method in Pinang Mancung sub-district, Tebing Tinggi in 2022. This is a descriptive survey research with purposive sampling technique with population of 514 head of households and respondents of 84 housewives in Lingkungan II, Pinang Mancung sub-district, Tebing Tinggi. Study showed the amount of waste of 837.4 kg in a week. The knowledge and attitude after provision of information went under the “Good” category, which were 92.9% and 83.3%, respectively. Participation in 3R waste management based on waste sorting after provision of information was 85.7% (72 respondents). Public participation of 3R waste management based on 3R action after provision of information went under the “Sufficient” category, 70.2%. It is suggested that the Hygiene and Environmental Health Services should cooperate with the officials of Pinang Mancung sub-district on the 3R waste management method and the development of waste bank. Households in Pinang Mancung sub-district were suggested to initiate an active role in waste management using 3R method within the households starting from waste sorting and 3R action. Health Services is expected to develop a disease prevention program that could arise due to waste.
