Keahlian Profesi Dukun (Studi Kasus di Desa Sei Limbat, Kecamatan Selesai, Langkat)

Abstract

As the times progress, many new things appear but do not leave old things, especially regarding trust. beliefs in indonesia are inherited and considered as ancestral heritage and should be preserved. this study describes the role, profession and supernatural skills of a shaman in sei limbat village, selesai district, langkat. this research was conducted with the aim of knowing how a shaman obtains a magical and supernatural skill, and what conditions are needed in carrying out a ritual process of handling the rain. this research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods accompanied by data collection methods such as interviews, observation, documentation, and literature studies. In practice, the researcher visited the shaman as the object of this research. the results of the research show that to become a dukun (shaman) requires great intention and courage, and must perform various types of rituals and penances. in shamanism, the power of magic is divided into two, namely ilmu putih (white magic) and ilmu hitam (black magic), black magic is used to do evil while white magic is the opposite, for example like suwuk, perewangan, penerawangan, petungan, are some of the certain magic skill. shamans also have a very important role in the community, especially in the sei limbat village, selesai district, langkat, north sumatra. shamans are seen as someone who has supernatural powers and also as a figure in society. the village community places a great deal of trust in a shaman to carry out a rain removal ritual with the aim that the implementation of a wedding or celebration event can be carried out smoothly and safely from weather disturbances, this has been done for a long time and has become a tradition passed down for generations. those who want to do a party or celebration event. in order to complete this research, the researcher hopes that in preserving culture like this, strong faith is needed to stick to each other's beliefs.
