    Abstract
America's foreign policy in supporting Ukraine is not in line with America's national interests in terms of economic improvement and efforts to reduce domestic inflation. Plus the increase in unemployment due to declining economic growth. This condition raises the problem that wants to be researched in this thesis is to find out why the United States is involved in the Russian Ukrainian conflict in 2022. This research was made with descriptive qualitative type. The method aims to describe in detail the relevant phenomena. This research collects data through methods, observations, documents, and then analyzes the data interpretatively to understand the phenomenon under study. Qualitative descriptive research is often used to describe complex social phenomena and understand how they occur from the perspective of the individuals involved. Ukraine's strategic position is an area of Russian business and service routes. The United States sees Ukraine's strategic value as a European "buffer zone" against Russian influence. Russia's territory is directly adjacent to NATO member countries which are fragments of the Soviet Union. On the other hand, the relationship between the US government and defense contractors is also relatively close. Not only for democracy promotion, it is in America's national interest to sell weapons to European countries. The aid provided by the United States to Ukraine is not free. The arms sales will become Ukraine's national debt in the long run. As a result, Ukraine will remain influenced by the US even after the conflict is over. This is proportional to America's efforts to provide assistance amidst America's economic situation that has not yet recovered after Covid-19. With the conflict, European countries' spending on weapons is getting higher.
