    Abstract
    The purpose of this study is to explain the intrinsic elements and images of women in the novel Chan-Pi Hikayat Cinta Negeri Melayu. This study uses library data collection techniques (Library research) and is followed by listening and note-taking methods. The data in this study is the text of the Chan-Pi novel Hikayat Cinta Negeri Melayu. The source of the data in this study is the novel Chan-Pi Hikayat Cinta Negeri Melayu. The method of data analysis in this study is to read the novel Chan-Pi Hikayat Cinta Negeri Melayu repeatedly, analyze the data based on the formulation of the problem, classify the data scientifically, then provide conclusions based on the analysis that has been done. In conducting research on intrinsic elements, researchers used Robert Stanton's theory and Sugihastuti's theory to examine the image of women in the novel Chan-Pi Hikayat Cinta Negeri Melayu. The results of this study found that the intrinsic element in this novel is the theme of the struggle of a Malay woman named Rakai to achieve her goals so that she is useful to others who have a background in Chan-Pi (Jambi) by using forward plot and third person point of view. In the image of women, it consists of physical images, namely Rakai, a young Malay woman with olive skin and a sweet face, Rakai's beauty is an attraction for men, Rakai experienced a mass of pregnancy and childbirth. Psychologically, Rakai is a woman who is steadfast, intelligent, religious, independent, needs a storyteller. And socially imaged through the role of a woman as a mother, wife, as a child, and through her relationship to individuals and society in general. Based on this research, it was found that in literary works, not all male authors make women weak objects and always experience discrimination. In this novel, women are used as the main object that acts as a great woman, independent and successful against discrimination against women.
