Abstract

This research explains about the history of Autobus Company of Motor Transport Ondernemer Hasan (PO. PMTOH) 1957-2000. PO. PMTOH officially was built in 1957 in the form of firm legal entity (FA). The research explains about its history, development, as well as the obstacles and challenges encountered by PO. PMTOHfrom 1957-2000. Historical research methods are employed in this research namely Heuristics, critics, interpretation, and histotiography. The result indicates that the history of PO. PMTOH begins due to the lack of transportation mode for both intercity and interprovincia,l as well as the owners can read the opportunity to gain economic profit. PO. PMTOH is a company built by some people namely Muhammad Hasan, Muhammad Badai, and Abdul Hamid Hasan and operates in transportation service. This company successfully developed to accommodate the public needs for ·transportationmode which in that time was still limited. PO. PMTOH also encounters many internal and external problems. The biggest obstacle in the PO. PMTOH, development is due to financial crisis occurred in the company. Other obstacles come from the fact that the service provided by PO. PMTOHfails to compete with other bus companies. The external obstacles encountered by PO. PMTOH is due to monetary crisis in 1998, the act of thuggery, the road condition which was not as safe as nowadays, damaged road infrastructure, and the cheap air transportation tariff In addition, the biggest challenge faced by PO. PMTOH occurs when starting the company and convincing people that PO. PMTOH is a reliable transportation company that can serve its prospective passages and can travel long distances.
