dc.description.abstract | This research is a field research using descriptive method. The purpose of this study was to find out the elements of the ornaments and the flow of calligraphy found in the Medan Petisah Taqarrub Mosque and to find out the denotation and connotation meanings contained in these ornaments in semiotics. The results of this study indicate that there are 61 pieces consisting of 2 types of ornaments at the Taqarrub Medan Petisah Mosque, namely Malay ornaments and geometric ornaments. There are also 120 verses and 38 lafadz allah and 8 lafadz Muhammad from 5 types of calligraphy styles, namely koufi calligraphy, Pharisaic calligraphy, diwani calligraphy, diwani jali calligraphy and S|ulus| calligraphy. Denotation and connotation meanings were found in the ornaments and verses written on the calligraphy at the Taqarrub Mosque. The conclusion obtained from this study is that the Taqarrub Medan Petisah Mosque has two types of ornaments and five Parts of Calligraphy and all the ornaments and calligraphy studied have denotative and connotative meanings | en_US |
