    Abstract
Nowadays, the development of construction has increased from year to year along with the increasing need for raw materials in the construction sector. As one of the building materials that has also increased, namely wall building materials where there are various types of wall filling materials such as red bricks which are widely used in residential building construction projects. The development of the use of walls that are easier and faster in the process is also increasing, where one of them is interlock bricks. The advantage of interlock bricks when compared to other bricks is that there is no need for a binding agent between bricks because the top and bottom surfaces of interlock bricks are designed to be interlocking. This research intends to find out how the effect of fly ash substitution in cement on the absorption value and compressive strength at 28 days of age. The use of fly ash in this study was carried out due to the increase in cement production which causes the greenhouse effect. The fly ash used was sieved first and obtained from Pangkalan Susu PLTU. The interlock brick specimens had dimensions of 25 cm x 12.5 cm x 10 cm and totaled 10 pieces for each variation. The variations studied are the substitution of fly ash as a substitute for cement as much as 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Based on the test results, the minimum absorption value is obtained in the 40% variation which is 3.267% and the maximum is in the 20% variation which is 4.459%, while the highest compressive strength value is in the 30% variation which is 9.297 MPa, and the lowest is in the 50% variation which is 5.344 MPa.
