Microgreen are vegetables that can be harvested at a young age,
approximaly at 7 to 14 days after sowing. The growth of microgreen is highly
dependent on the planting media. The research on the Variation of Planting Media
and the Addition of Bean Sprout Extract on the Growth of Red Radish Microgreen
(Raphanus Sativus L.) had been carried out from December 2022 to January 2023 at
the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Tissue Culture, Faculty of Mathematics and
Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra. This study aimed to obtain the best
combination of planting media and bean sprout extract concentrations for the growth
of red radish (Raphanus sativus L.) microgreen. This study used a two-factor
factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four media levels (cocopeat,
husk charcoal, vermiculite, rockwool) and four levels of bean sprout extract (0 ml/L,
20 ml/L, 25 ml/L, 30 ml/L). The treatment of bean sprout extract was carried out
twice a week as much as 50 ml. The results showed that the combination of bean
sprout extract and planting media had a significant effect on the plant height, the wet
weight, the root volume, the dry weight, the anthocyanin content and the crude fiber
content. Sprout extract 25 ml/L with a combination of cocopeat planting media
(E2M1) showed the highest value for all variables, such as plant height of 13.22 cm,
wet weight of 48.87 g, root volume of 0.60 ml, dry weight of 5.61 g, content
anthocyanins of 12.44 mg/L and the crude fiber content of 13.33%.
