dc.description.abstractBuffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is a type of ruminant that important component in health development that support farming community businesses in rural areas. Buffaloe is one of animal species that susceptible infected by ectoparasites. The infections can cause itchy and irritation on skin, weight loss, anemia, inflammation and discomfort. Research types of ectoparasites was conducted from January to February 2023.at buffalo in Selamat Village, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatera The purpose was to analyze types of ectoparasites, their prevalence and intensity of the infection. Samples used in this study were obtained from 16 buffaloes using sweep net method and finger palpation. All parasites were collected and indentified at Animal Systematics Laboratory Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Sumatera Utara. The results showed 3 types of ectoparasites, namely Boophilus microplus with a prevalence of 31.25% (commonly) with intensity infection of 10 (moderate), Stomoxys calcitrans with a prevalence of 100% (always), intensity of infection 18.75 (moderate), and Culex sp. with prevalence of 100% (always, and intensity infection 6.25 (moderate).en_US
