Variasi Konsentrasi Ekstrak Taoge dan Media Tanam terhadap Pertumbuhan Microgreen Alfalfa (Medicago Sativa L.)
Abstract
Microgreens are a young vegetables with small size harvested around 7 to 14
days after sowing. Microgreen require suitable growing media as well as nutrients to
grow properly. The research on the variation of concentrations bean sprout extract
and growing media on the Growth of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) microgreen was
conducted from December 2022 to February 2023 at the Laboratory of Plant
Physiology and Tissue Culture, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,
University of North Sumatra. This study aimed to obtain the best combination of the
bean sprout extract and the variety of planting media on the growth of alfalfa
(Medicago sativa L.) microgreen. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized
Design (CRD) with two treatment factors consist of four kinds of media (cocopeat,
husk charcoal, vermiculite, and rockwool) and four levels of bean sprout extract
(control, 20 ml/L, 25 ml/L, 30 ml/L). The observations were made for 14 days after
sowing (DAS). The results of the research showed that the combination treatment of
bean sprout extract concentration and planting medium had a significant effect on
plant height, fresh weight, root volume, dry weight, fiber content and chlorophyll
content. The sprouts extract of 25 ml/L with a combination with rockwool growing
media (E2M4) indicated the highest value for all variables, such as plant height 9.65
cm, fresh weight 9.04 gram, root volume 0.53 ml, dry weight 1.06 gram, chlorophyll
content 2.07 mg/g and 12.33% crude fiber content. The treatment of E3 bean sprout
extract concentration (30 ml/L) in all types of media tended to reduce the value of all
observation variables
