    Abstract
Bamboo shark is a cartilaginous fish that is widely hunted because it has high economic value. Fishing and trading has caused this species to be threatened with extinction and has been included in the IUCN Red List category. Information on the types of sharks landed in TPI Pantai Labu is still very limited due to the difficulty of morphological identification, so it is necessary to carry out molecular identification using the DNA Barcoding method. This study aims to determine the species, phylogenetic kinship status and conservation status of bamboo shark that are landed in TPI Pantai Labu. This research was conducted in September – November 2022. The research methods used included the stages of sampling, DNA extraction, DNA amplification, DNA electrophoresis, DNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. The results showed that the COI nucleotides of the bamboo shark samples matched to Genbank's BLAST had similarities to Chiloscyllium hasseltii species with a 100% similarity level. These results show that the bamboo shark is in the endangered category when viewed from the IUCN Red List data. Collection of data types and conservation status of sharks is one of the first steps in management considering that these species play an important role in the balance of the marine ecosystem.
