Perbedaan Kadar Testosteron Saliva pada Siswa Atlet

Abstract

Background : Early puberty in both male and female could be seen, however intense physical exercise in male athletes could delay the development of puberty due to low secretion of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) which can be seen

by low levels of testosterone. Testosteron levels in saliva examination is a non- invasive methods, applicable and proved can describe the testosterone level in

serum. Objective : To determine the difference of testosterone level between athlete students and non athlete students. Methods: This is a cross sectional study, the subjects were students of Generasi Soccer School, primary and secondary students of Antonius Bangun Mulia School with 9-14 years old aged from October 2015-February 2016. The testosterone levels were tested using ELISA methods and the activity level tested using the Physical Activity Questionaire For Adolescents (PAQ-A). Results: From 36 students in each group, mean testosterone level saliva in male athletes was 48.6 (23.00) and non atheletes was 77.1 (14.92) pg/ml . There was a significant correlation between physical activity of athletes and non athletes students with mean testosteron level in saliva (p = 0.001, r = -28.5, 95% Cl 11.4-56.2). Conclusion: There was a difference of testosterone level between athlete students and non athlete students
