    Abstract
Magnetic activated carbon has been carried out using pecan shell waste (Aleurites moluccana) and the addition of CoCl2 with the composition of 20:80, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40, 80:20 use the co-precipitation method. The breakthrough made in this research is to make magnetic activated carbon electrodes in supercapacitors. The preparation process was carried out by mixing hazelnut shell powder and CoCl2 with acetic acid solvent. Then the homogeneous raw materials were dropped into NaOH 2 M precipitating solution The precipitate was washed using ethanol and aquadest. The resulting precipitate was oven dried for 8 hours at T=80℃, then ground with a mortar cup and calcined at T=100 ℃ for 2 hours. PSA showed the average particle size with a size range of 538.53 - 600.61 nm which is said to be nanoparticles. Increasing the addition of pecan shells has an effect with a larger particle size distribution. XRD results show that the size of the crystal diameter is getting bigger with the addition of pecan shells. SEM-EDX testing shows that the increasing addition of pecan shell waste, the fewer pores that occur in the morphology. EDX shows that the C element is getting bigger with the addition of pecan shells. VSM results show the addition of pecan shells will affect coercivity. The coercivity results are getting bigger with the addition of pecan shells. The CV test shows a capacitance that is not linear with the addition of pecan shells. The amount of capacitance is inversely proportional to the open circuit potential.
