    Abstract
    Introduction. Diabetes is one of the causes of secondary hyperlipidemia. In COVID-19, dyslipidemia is thought to be the result of biological and pathological processes triggered by SARS-CoV-2. Altered in the lipid profile have been reported since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, where the degree of lipid change and the severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection were positively correlated. This study aims to analyze the relationship between lipid profile and mortality in confirmed COVID-19 patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. Method. This was a descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional design that used a total sampling technique by collecting secondary data on hospitalized patients with T2DM who were confirmed to have COVID-19 at H. Adam Malik General Hospital from March December 2021 which was then analyzed using the SPSS version 25 application. To find out the relationship between variables, we used the ANOVA test if it met the requirements and the Kruskall-Wallis test if it did not. The results are said to be statistically significant if the p-value <0.05. Results. Of the 372 study subjects, the most common sex was male (57.3%), 193 people had a BMI of 18.5 - 24.9 kg/m2 (51.9%), and the overall mean age was 57.5 ± 10.4 years. It was found that reduced total cholesterol and LDL levels in T2DM patients who were confirmed with COVID-19 were associated with mortality (p=0.001, p=0.002). There was no relationship between lipid profile and liver disorders in T2DM patients who were confirmed with COVID-19 (p>0.05). Conclusion. Reductions in total cholesterol and LDL levels in T2DM patients with confirmed COVID-19 are associated with mortality.
