The S100B protein a marker of central nervous system is specifically present in large amounts is expressed by astrocytes in the brain, thereby contributing to tumor development and as a marker for advanced brain tissue damage. S100B as a predictor of prognosis in brain tumors with high S100B levels indicates a poor prognosis. Aim : This study aims to determine the relationship between S100B serum levels before and after craniotomy procedures by using the clinical outcomes in primary brain tumors patients at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan Method : This study used a correlative analytic research study with primary data sources that obtained from the inpatient rooms of H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan with a total sample of 15 primary brain tumor patients. Result : Based on the 15 subjects, 86.7% were women and 13.3% were men. The average S100B serum level before craniotomy is 21.99 pg/mL. There was a decrease in S100B serum levels after craniotomy of 7.74 pg/mL. There was a significant relationship between S100B serum levels before and after craniotomy (p = 0.002). There was no significant relationship between S100B after craniotomy with NANO scores (p = 0.685), (r = 0.114). There was no significant relationship between S100 Bafter craniotomy with KPS in primary brain tumors (p = 0.625) (r = -0.138). Conclusion : There is a significant difference between S100B before and after craniotomy in primary brain tumors. However, this research is needed to assess long-term outcomes based on NANO and KPS after craniotomy in primary brain tumors.en_US
