dc.description.abstract | Background :An autopsy or forensic post-mortem is a way to determine the exact cause of death accompanied by an examination of the tissues and organs in it, both physically and with the support of an anatomical pathology laboratory examination. At this stage, forensic experts have a big role in the early stages of tissue processing, namely tissue preservation or fixation which is a crucial process.in preventing autolysis, degradation of tissues and their components,in order to make good histopathological preparation slides. The NBF10% golden standard fixation solution is still used because it is very effective, cheap and easy to obtain, but has an adverse effect on health. So a study was conducted to examine fixation solutions derived from natural ingredients that are effective and safe for health.
Methods: This research is an experimental analytical study which aims to compare the effectiveness of natural fixation of 75% Moringa leaf extract and NBF10% on the macroscopic and microscopic features of human organs using stratified random sampling technique, with inclusion and exclusion criteria of 30 samples. . Macroscopic and microscopic evaluations were carried out on a scale of 1-3, analyzed using SPSS. Macroscopic assessment was tested using the t test and microscopic assessment using the ANOVA test (F test).
Results: The results of the macroscopic assessment using a natural fixation solution of Moringa leaf extract 75% had fairly good tissue shrinkage criteria (0.6 mm) and NBF 10% solution had good tissue shrinkage criteria (3 mm) and both had an effect on shrinkage network. The results of the microscopic assessment of the natural fixation solution of 75% Moringa leaf extract have effectiveness as a fixation solution. | en_US |
