Hubungan antara Kadar Fetuin-A dengan Derajat NAFLD

Abstract

Background Fetuin-A is a plasma glycoprotein expressed in the liver. Changes in fetuin-A expression are associated with increased fat accumulation in the liver which causes with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The usefulness of serum fetuin-A as a predictive fibrosis biomarker in NAFLD patients remains unclear. NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS) is one of the most accurate non-invasive scoring systems to predict fibrosis among patients with NAFLD. This study aimed to find out correlation of circulating fetuin-A level with NFS in NAFLD patients. Method : A total 80 subjects (male, 52; female, 26) were enrolled in this cross sectional study. NAFLD was diagnosed by abdominal ultrasonography. Serum fetuin-A levels was measured by ELISA. NFS was used to identify fibrosis probability in subjects. Results : There was a significant difference of fetuin-A levels (p < 0,001) between the NAFLD degrees I (421,71 pg/mL), NAFLD degrees II (494,88 pg/mL) and NAFLD degrees III (692 pg/mL). Low probability score NFS was found in 46 subjects. Indeterminate score NFS was found in 34 subjects. Serum fetuin-A concentration was significantly correlated with NFS ( r = 0,478, p < 0,001). Conclussion : There was positive correlation between fetuin-A serum levels and NFS.
