There are various community activities along the Belawan river that affect the quality of river water such as the accumulation of Pb and Cd metals in fish meat, including in Duri fish (Hexanematichthys sagor) in the Belawan river. The purpose of the study was to known how much Pb and Cd absorbed in fish meat Duri (Hexanematichthys sagor) in the Belawan river. This research was conducted by determining the sampling location using the Purposive Sampling method, based on the activities found around the waters, heavy metal analysis was carried out by AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). Base on the result, the levels of heavy metal Lead (Pb) in Duri fish (Hexanematichthys sagor) had the highest value found at station 3 which was in a residential area (2.07 mg/kg). The average level of cadmium (Cd) in fish at each station was 0.03 mg/kg. The average level of lead (Pb) at each station was
0.003 mg/L and the average level of Cadmium (Cd) was 0.002 mg/L. The levels of Pb and Cd metals in river water at each station were outside the detection limit meaning too low to detect. Therefore, the quality standards suitable of the Duri fish meet save for the consumption. The levels of Pb metal in Duri fish (Hexanematichthys sagor) at each station also passed the food quality standards, the Cd in fish meet the quality standards was suitable for consumption. Analysis of the relationship between heavy metals Pb and Cd with physical and chemical factors in the waters was tolerable.
